The Digital Comic Museum is an amazing archive of public domain comics from the ’40s and ’50s. They are scanned in full including covers and adverts. The content is a true reflection of the period while the Korean and Cold Wars are mirrored in numerous titles such as Atoman and Captain Steve Savage and the fighting jets over Korea. Science, romance, westerns, mystery are all really strong subjects. The site requires registration after which you have access to thousands of comic books (over 15,000 to date) all free with no restrictions. Due to the strict public domain policy you’ll not find any of the more popular titles and characters of today such as the DC roster but this only serves to make this collection more interesting.
